| Coming from the East Coast, this was the first dentist office I came to out here in OC and unfortunately it was a horrible experience. Long story short, I found out they "mistakenly" overcharged me $600! Not $60...$600! I had my first root canal after visiting here and after getting fitted for the crown, Vicky at the front desk tells me the total is $1000. Not only did they NOT give me the options possible before performing anything, they charged me for the most expensive crown they offer and told me it was their basic porcelain crown. After talking to my insurance company, I found out I needed to give consent and agree to this crown considering it is the "Gucci" of porcelain crowns. After calling the office multiple times and Vicky telling me she would get back to me (which she never did, I had to keep calling) they finally admitted they not only overcharged me, they did not ask if I wanted this crown which was much more! I am still waiting for my refund! |

| First off, I have dental insurance. Second, I had a cavity requiring a root canal. Dr. Stevens (ok, I'm not crazy about calling dentists doctors because I'm married to a doctor, and to me, 4 years of med school plus at least 3 years of residency = doctor, and that's it) spotted the cavity, told me to get the root canal and then to return to his office to get a crown in. On the day I came in to get the crown done, the receptionist casually mentioned that my co-pay was "nine-oh-five." I thought that's weird, nine bucks and five cents, fine. But no, WITH insurance this crown was gonna cost me NINE HUNDRED FIVE dollars. At no time during the month I set up the initial and second appointment did anyone at this office mention I would need to shell out nearly one thousand dollars for this guy to spackle my tooth and slap some metal on it, all of which will maybe last me 10 years, tops. Give me a break. The excessive costs of dental care is rotten and unjust and completely overlooked in our ongoing health care debate. |
